Kano is the administrative center of the Kano State and the third largest city in Nigeria, in terms of geographical size, after Ibadan and Lagos. In population, it is the second most populous city (with a population of 3,848,885) in the country, behind Lagos.

Kano shares similar characteristics with Wisconsin. It is a rich agricultural state and has the largest commodity market in West Africa. Kano produces grains, guinea corn, maize, millet, wheat, rice, legumes: groundnuts, and cowpeas. Its livestock are principally sheep, goats and cattle.

Kano is the second largest industrial center in Nigeria after Lagos. Kano has the highest concentration of tanneries in Nigeria. It also has well established vegetable oil mills (Bebeji Oil is the largest oil mill in West Africa), flour mills and textiles industries.

The Nigerian delegation explored opportunities in commodity trading, integrated agricultural farm systems, tannery production and management, manufacturing, agricultural machinery, solid waste management, and biotechnology.
