Judy Wilcox, a fixture in the state's housing programs which served the homeless retired from the Department of Commerce in November. As part of her going away party her colleagues arranged for a Native American drum ceremony to mark the occasion.

The two secretaries were on a joint tour to the north with stops in Hayward and Ashland to discuss state budget, energy, tourism economy and other issues.
