IMPORTANT: As of July 1st, 2011, functions once performed by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce have been moved to other state agencies and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. What Did You Say??? Government Acronyms Decoded

The world of government is full of acronyms. Were it so simple that each government agency would have only one set of its own "lingo." However, nothing's ever that easy. Within the Department of Commerce alone, we have divisions and indeed even bureaus that have their own set of acronyms to get them through the day.

In an effort to break "government-speak" down to plain English for those who aren't familiar with some or all of the terms, please peruse our first acronym offering from the Division of Housing & Community Development. We plan to "decode" another division's abbreviations in coming issues.
