Hot Topics: Valuation
Valuation is one of the main building blocks of a compliance program. The Milwaukee World Trade Association Compliance Committee and the Waukesha County Technical College Global Trade Center will hold a roundtable meeting to discuss how the valuation of goods is used to determine the application of ad valorem duties. Valuation is also the basis for creating costed-bills-of-materials used in NAFTA origin determination, commissions, royalties, assists, proceeds, packaging and transfer pricing. It is also essential for compiling trade statistics and monitoring quantitative restrictions for applying tariff preferences and collecting national taxes. This discussion will alert you to the consequences of not complying with the CBP- and GATT-mandated rules: penalties, fines, forfeiture of imported material, the possibility of missed revenue recognition and/or profit margin. This program is designed for both beginning and advanced individuals.

The event will be held on Monday, March 31, 7:45 – 10:45 am at Waukesha County Technical College - RTA Education Center, 800 Main Street, Pewaukee. The registration fee is $25. For more information, contact Ms. Aleda Bourassa, Manager, Center for Global Education & Trade, abourassa@wctc.edu, ph: (262) 691-5219.
