India Options
Photo of Taj Mahal While the State of Wisconsin Trade Mission to India, originally scheduled for November, has had to be postponed, Wisconsin businesses seeking to expand their export sales to this growing country have additional options to learn about the market and develop networks of contacts.  India is one of the world’s most rapidly growing markets, offering exciting trade opportunities for American companies.

The U.S. Commercial Service has established a new business information center for India. The India Business Center (IBC) will help U.S. companies take advantage of emerging market opportunities and the fast-growing purchasing power of the middle class in India. The IBC will also help U.S. businesses understand the complexities of the market and provide strategies to enhance their chances for success. To learn more, please visit: http://www.export.gov/india/doc_eg_india.asp.

Wisconsin business people interested in traveling to India before the end of the year may be interested in two missions scheduled for November and December.  Fed Ex, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Commerce, is sponsoring a Certified Trade Mission to India, with stops in New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, November 9-15, 2008.  The mission will put participants in face-to-face contact with Indian business executives, industry decision-makers, government officials, commercial specialists, and others.  The U.S. Commercial Service will help participants find partners, distributors, agents and buyers in India. In addition, U.S. business executives who are already successfully operating in India will be on hand to share their experiences. The mission is open to U.S. companies exporting goods and services across all industry sectors.  More information is available at http://offer.van.fedex.com/m/p/fdx/ind/trademission.asp.

Suppliers of retail and food ingredient products may be interested in a Focused Trade Mission to India being coordinated by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, December 1-4, 2008. The event is designed to allow exporters to assess the opportunities for their products in the India market with the help of Food Export-Midwest's in-country staff.  Participants will receive a market analysis of their product prior to the visit, an in-market briefing, one-on-one meetings with buyers, tours of retail food stores and food processors, and assistance with lead follow-up.  More information on this event for food exporters can be obtained from Lisa Stout, lisa.stout@wisconsin.gov, (608) 224-5126.
