City of Menomonie Delegated to Enforce Commercial Building Codes

For Immediate Release: October 17, 2007
Contact: Tony Hozeny, Department of Commerce, 608/267-9661

MADISON - Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Mary P. Burke today announced that Commerce has delegated the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, the authority to provide commercial building alteration review services for all interior alterations and additions of 1,000 sq. ft. or less as well as conduct inspections of all commercial buildings located within its municipality.

"The City of Menomonie joins over 160 other state municipalities that have been delegated the authority to provide specified plan review services and conduct inspections on behalf of Commerce," Burke said. "This gives municipalities the opportunity to provide services on behalf of the state as well as their own enforcement activities on projects within the scope of their delegated authority. Typically municipalities can provide more immediate service to local projects."

Under agent delegation agreement, John J. Dahl will be responsible for inspections and plan reviews for the City of Menomonie.

Municipalities seeking further information regarding the commercial building agent program should contact Henry Kosaryzcki, Commerce, at 608/212-0138. Owners seeking submittal information to the scope of their projects can contact the City of Menomonie or Henry Kosarzycki.
