Marketplace 2008 to Showcase Wisconsin Minority Business Awards
For Immediate Release: August 14, 2008 Deadline Extended: Applications Due August 29 MADISON - Minority-owned businesses interested in achieving additional visibility and name recognition should consider applying for a 2008 Minority Business Award from the Department of Commerce (Commerce). "Many public and private sector entities are seeking to purchase goods and services from minority-owned firms," said Commerce Deputy Secretary Aaron Olver. "I encourage minority-owned firms to take this opportunity to promote themselves to potential customers." Application deadline is August 29. There are three award categories: Outstanding Minority Business (two awards based on business size to honor successful companies); Rising Star (honoring an emerging company that shows innovation and promise); and Good Citizen (honoring a company that gives back to society). Awards will be announced at the Marketplace 2008 Governor's Conference on Minority Business Development, scheduled October 1 and 2, 2008 at the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel & Convention Hotel, Milwaukee. The top three applicants in each award category will be invited to the October 1 evening reception where the winner in each category will be announced. Winners will receive special recognition at the October 2nd luncheon and receive publicity to recognize their achievement.
