Governor Doyle Announces Training Project with Appleton Papers
For Immediate Release: August 14, 2008 Company to invest $7 million in technology upgrade MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Appleton Papers Inc., Appleton, Outagamie County, has received an $85,000 Customized Labor Training grant from the Department of Commerce to train 80 current employees on new equipment. "Year after year, Wisconsin leads the nation in paper production, and this industry is one of our economy's cornerstones," Governor Doyle said. "I'm pleased that we could assist Appleton Papers Inc. with a project that will train workers on new equipment and help the company remain competitive." Appleton Papers Inc., founded in 1907, manufactures carbonless, thermal, and performance packaging products. It also has operations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and the United Kingdom. It is investing $7 million to rebuild three coating machines, and will train employees on this new equipment. The training project will leverage $133,156 in private investment.
