New Building Will House Community Center, Fire Station and Town Hall

MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle announced today that Oconto County will receive a $221,700 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to help the community of Doty finance a new building that will house the community center, fire station and town hall.

"In order to grow Wisconsin, it's important we move industries, companies, and communities forward, and create good-paying jobs for our citizens," Governor Doyle said. "I'm pleased to provide funding which will strengthen important infrastructure in Oconto County."

The funding provided by Governor Doyle will be used to construct a 7,701-sq.-ft.-facility that will house the community center, fire station and town hall. The new facility will become a regional command center for fire and other emergencies. The total project cost is $867,809.

Commerce administers the CDBG Program. These CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
