IMPORTANT: As of July 1st, 2011, functions once performed by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce have been moved to other state agencies and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Collaborative Funding Opportunities Available for Biotech/Medical Devices Firms
For Immediate Release: October 10, 2008 MADISON - Biotechnology and medical devices companies developing new products can connect and develop relationships with six major life sciences companies at the Building Strategic Partnerships and Alliances Conference, to be held Oct. 22 at Waukesha's Country Springs Hotel and Conference Center. The participating companies are as follows: Eli Lilly, Enlight Biosciences, GE Healthcare/Life Science, Johnson and Johnson, Medtronic, and Roche Nimblegen. The event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Devices Association and the Department of Commerce. "Wisconsin continues to lead the world in stem cell and biotechnology, and we must continue to support companies that have the potential to achieve incredible, life-saving breakthroughs," Governor Doyle said. "I am pleased to welcome six leading biotechnology companies that I met with at BIO 2008 to see firsthand the tremendous capabilities of Wisconsin's biotech and medical sector. I look forward to working with these companies as we forge new research partnerships." The companies will make presentations throughout the day on their areas of interest, potential collaborative funding opportunities, and how to make connections with them. The conference also offers a full slate of sessions on successful partnering; state and federal governments assistance; product development in a virtual environment; and international perspectives.
