Governor Proclaims Whereas, professional plumbers are leaders in new technologies that improve and maintain the essential infrastructure our country so desperately depends on; and Whereas, the plumbing industry plays a significant role in our economy as well, as the majority of plumbing contractors are small business owners, who help create most of the jobs in this country; and Whereas, 2008 is a special year for plumbers with the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Plumbing - Heating - Cooling Contractors - National Association, which represents approximately 4,100 contractors and 85,000 technicians in the United States, including more than 125 contractors and 7,000 technicians in Wisconsin; and Whereas, the anniversary will culminate with the observance of National Plumbing Industry Week, April 27 - May 3, 2008, which will focus attention on the role of the plumbing industry in safeguarding the nation's environment and the safety and health and comfort of its people, and Whereas, National Plumbing Industry Week will occur in conjunction with the Plumbing - Heating - Cooling Contractors - National Association's 2008 Leadership and Legislative Conference, during which members of the PHCC will visit legislators on Capitol Hill and participate in educational sessions to prepare for the future; and Whereas, many states and cities will also participate in National Plumbing Industry Week through their own locally based activities; Now, therefore, I, Jim Doyle, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, in recognition of the contributions professional plumbers in Wisconsin and throughout the United States make to society, do hereby proclaim April 27 - May 3, 2008, as
